Journal History

COMMUNIA – Journal of Community Engagement and Development was established as a scholarly journal dedicated to the dissemination of academic knowledge and practical insights in the fields of community engagement, community empowerment, and sustainable community development.

The journal was established in 2026 under Alinea Nusa Publikasi as an academic platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, community organizations, policymakers, and other stakeholders to disseminate scholarly works related to community-based initiatives and development.

From its establishment, COMMUNIA has been designed as an open access, peer-reviewed academic journal that promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences between academic institutions and communities. The journal applies a double-blind peer review process to maintain the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of published manuscripts.

Development of the Journal

Since its establishment, COMMUNIA has been developed with a broad and interdisciplinary focus covering various dimensions of community engagement and development, including community empowerment, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, social innovation, participatory education, public health, legal empowerment and public policy, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, agriculture and rural development, social and cultural development, and inclusive and sustainable community initiatives.

The journal is committed to providing an accessible platform for scholarly communication and to encouraging research and community-based initiatives that contribute to solving contemporary social and developmental challenges.

Open Access Commitment

From its establishment, COMMUNIA has adopted a full open access publishing model. All published articles are made freely and immediately available to readers without subscription or access fees.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license, allowing scholarly works to be shared and adapted in accordance with the terms of the license.

Publication Development

COMMUNIA publishes two issues per year, with the following publication periods:

• Issue 1: December–May

• Issue 2: June–November

The journal is committed to maintaining a consistent publication schedule and continuously improving its editorial, peer-review, publishing, and digital preservation practices.

COMMUNIA is committed to continuous improvement in accordance with internationally recognized principles of scholarly publishing and research integrity.
